Stage set for all-island Under-16 football

The Sri Lanka Schools Football Association is conducting an all-island under-16 inter-school football tournament that has attracted many school teams from many districts in the country.

This tournament is sponsored by IDM Campus, an educational institute that will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee Anniversary next year.

This tournament is conducted for boys and girls teams and have already completed the tournament at Inter-District level.

The final round will be played at the Race Course ground on October 14, 15 and 16 according to Bandara Leelaratne, the president of Sri Lanka Schools Football Association.

School teams from the districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara participated in the district level tournament.

Now there will be 32 boys and 24 girls’ teams from 24 districts to play in the final round. Teams from the Colombo District that have entered the final round will be found out next week.

Matches will be played to a 45 minutes format with each half being 20 minutes with a five minute break for half time.

Amandi Kulasingha the Managing Director of IDM campus said that they have lined up many more events to be conducted in celebration of their Silver Jubilee next year.
