Home Affairs State Minister Ashoka Priyantha said that a decision has been made to appoint a special committee consisting of senior officials from the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry to look into increasing the allowances of Grama Niladhari officials.
The State Minister said this while speaking to the media during the conference of District Secretaries held Saturday (16) in the auditorium of the Home Affairs Ministry. He said that during the two-day District Secretaries’ conference, there was a long discussion about the existing problems of the Grama Niladhari’s and it was decided to appoint a special committee to look into the possibility of increasing allowances they are currently entitled to.
The Grama Niladhari officials have been demanding to increase their allowances for a long time.
