Eng Society launches program to stem brain drain

The Private Sector Engineers Society (PSES) has launched a series of lectures to be conducted by top engineers to stop exodus of qualified engineers out of the country.

The first in the series of lectures will be conducted by Eng. Priyantha Siriwardana on ‘Practical use of Finite Element Method’ January 9 at 5.30 pm at the Plastic and Rubber Institute in Rajagiriya.

Siriwardene works as a specialist in Finite Element Studies at the Advanced Technology Division of Camso Loadstar in Canada.

He holds a BSc Engineering degree from the University of Peradeniya and Master’s Degree in management of technology from the University of Moratuwa.

President of PSES, Ananda Devasinghe said, “We have enough multi skilled professionals in Sri Lanka but other countries use their talent for their development process.

This is the beginning of a series of programs to stop engineers leaving the country.”
