The Indian Cultural Centre is organizing a Bharathanatyam recital by Neha Khaitan, disciple of Guru Hemamalini Vijayraghavan Arni on March 10 at 6 pm at its auditorium, at the Indian Cultural Centre, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7.
Neha Khaitan has been trained under the able-guidance of Guru Hemamalini Vijayraghavan Arni, the prime disciple of Padmabhushan T. Balasaraswati, and Padmasri Vazhuvoor Ramaiah Pillais in the Vazhuvoor style, since the last ten years. Neha surpasses most artists of today because of her ability to become the character she aims to portray in her dance. She is deeply inspired by her Guru and yet, believes in having a style of her own, be it in her Nritta or Abhinaya.
She has been honored with titles such as, “Nruthya Mauktika” at Natya Pravah Festival, 2013, Hyderabad, “Nruthya Jyothi” at Naveen Kalakar, 2013 Bhubaneshwar, “Nrithya Vilasini” at Nritha Nrithyathi Dance Festival, 2013, Bhilai for her contribution to the field of Bharatnatyam.
