Kidnappers nabbed
Kelaniya Police nabbed two females and three males in connection with the kidnapping of a person from Kelaniya on Friday. The Police also took into custody the trishaw used for the abduction.
The suspected abductors aged 18, 20, 22, 25 and 26 are said to be residents of Pethiyagoda, Kelaniya. According to the Police, the kidnapping had taken place due to a tiff arising from a love affair.
Knocked down by train
An man was hit by a train near the Mount Lavinia railway station on Friday. The train had been plying from Colombo Fort to Kalutara when the incident occurred. The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old, Samantha Jayawardene, a resident of Nawinna.
Five foreigners arrested
Five foreigns were arrested by the Kochchikade Police, for remaining in the country without a valid visa during a raid on Friday morning in Palangathure, Negombo. According to the Police, all five are Nigerian nationals. Kochchikade Police are carrying out further investigations.
