Concert in aid of Prince Udaya Priyantha

The concert,“Aadaraniiya Prince,” organised by the National Youth Services Council and a special five member committee will be held on Friday, July 14 at 6.30 p.m at the National Youth Service Council, Maharagama. The organisers said, the main objective of the concert is to raise funds to pay the medical bill of the late Prince Udaya Priyantha.

National Youth Services Council, Chairman Erandika Weliange said, the decision to hold the concert was a collective decision of the artistes, “We, as the National Youth Services Council too joined hands with them to make the event a success and, as it is a worthy cause we will support them throughout.” The Chairman said, the venue for the concert, their latest musical band, “Youth Extreme”, the staff and all other resources they own will be utilised free of charge.

“Prince was a talented and a famous singer in the country. We decided to organise this concert to help his sister pay off the medical bill which is due, since she is unable to pay such a huge amount. A total of Rs. 2,538,000 is still due to the hospital. Our intention is to put all the money we get from the concert to pay up his medical bill. This concert is our tribute to Prince,” said the main organiser and President of the Sri Lanka Singers’ Association (SLASA), Keerthi Pasquel.

“We need your blessings and support to make this event a success. We believe our fans will always be with us as they have been all this time. Please join with us and be a part of this great initiative,” said Committee member, Madhumadawa Aravinda.

The music direction of “Aadaraniiya Prince” will be by Nuwan Samarasinghe. “I feel honoured to be part of the concert. Prince was an artiste who entered the music industry from the National Youth Services Council in the 1980s. He is one of us and we hope to do our best to help his loved ones,” said Samarasinghe.

A total of 28 artistes will participate in the event, including, artistes such as, Amarasiri Peiris, Edward Jayakody, T.M Jayaratne, Samitha Mudunkotuwa, Nirosha Virajini, Bathiya and Santhush, Namal Udugama, Kasun Kalhara, Chamara Weerasinghe. Tickets are priced at Rs.1,000, Rs.2,000 and Rs.3,000.
