Following in the footsteps of Lanka Orix Leasing Company PLC, Sri Lanka’s non-bank lender LB Finance PLC opened its first branch in Myanmar last week and disbursed 50 microfinance loans to customers. LB Microfinance Myanmar Company Limited received a licence to operate in the Bago region, the firm had announced in a stock exchange filing in October.
“As planned we have opened our first branch in PYAY Township in Bago region which is estimated to have a population of 5 million,” said Ishan Rajika, the Country Manager of LB Microfinance Myanmar Company.
