Culinary magic at AYU

Cooking is also a form of creative expression, bringing to life ingredients in a tasteful symphony. Sri Lanka is seeing a rise of talented homegrown chefs who are creating a name for themselves. One such young man is 27 year old Madushanka Ratnayake a native of Kandy. Presently he works as a Chef at Movenpick , Colombo. He tells me ‘I was inspired to join the hotel industry by another friend who is also a chef. I enjoy my work”. Madushanka has worked at Kandalama and then went to Saudi Arabia where he began his stint with the Movenpick chain of hotels. It was here that his cooking skills were infused with international experience. Having returned to Colombo, he was absorbed into the pre opening team of the hotel. Since then Madushanka is the man behind the lovely buffet at AYU on level 4 of the hotel, where he offers guests a beautiful blend of many culinary regions. (DJ)
