U S Embassy launches ‘Small & Mighty’ Grant Competition with Sarvodaya

22 July, 2018

The U. S. Embassy has launched the ‘Small & Mighty’ grants competition, which is administered in cooperation with Sarvodaya. The U.S. Embassy created the ‘Small & Mighty’ programme to provide funding opportunities to smaller organisations and individuals that may not have the infrastructure to compete in the U.S. Embassy’s formal Notice of Funding Opportunity process. ‘Small & Mighty’ has a streamlined application available online at https://www.facebook.com/SarvodayaSriLanka/posts/2147851475229452 and has a rolling deadline.

‘The Small & Mighty’ grants competition will benefit community organisations and activists from across Sri Lanka,” said Chargé d’affaires Robert Hilton.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the creative solutions Sri Lankans develop to address challenges in their communities.”

Funded entirely by the U.S. government, the competition is open to all civil society organisations, think-tanks, academic institutions, and individuals. All grantees must have non-profit status.

The selection committee particularly welcomes proposals for projects that promote reconciliation, improve respect for human rights and freedom of expression, increase accountability, and encourage economic growth.

Applicants must submit their proposals electronically through the Sarvodaya Small Grants online platform (https://www.facebook.com/SarvodayaSriLanka/posts/2147851475229452) in one of three languages: English, Sinhala, or Tamil. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis through March 31, 2019.

The first round of applications will be reviewed and awarded on or before August 15, 2018 and every two months thereafter.
