Sri Lanka settle for third place

Sri Lanka had to settle for the third place at the eight-nation Under-20 Asian rugby Sevens tournament which concluded in Hong Kong yesterday.

Entering the semi finals of the Cup championship, Sri Lanka lost to Korea 17-22.

To qualify for the semi finals Sri Lanka beat China (26-14), Chinese Taipei (38-15) and Singapore (22-12). Playing for the third place Sri Lanka beat Singapore 26-12. Host country Hong Kong won the Cup championship when they beat Korea 5-0 in the final. Hong Kong, Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Chinese Taipei and Sri Lanka contested the tournament. In the women’s segment China beat Hong Kong 33-0.
