Sri Lanka cricketer Dinesh Chandimal had used the period in which he had to sit out the recent two-Test and five-match ODI series against South Africa to ensure he comes back a fitter and technically sound player.
He was out serving a ban imposed by the International Cricket Council for a case of ball tampering during the second cricket Test against the West Indies at St. Lucia last June.
“It was tough just watching the games and not being part of it. I was not injured or dropped. But I made use of being away from the game to have more fitness workouts and improve on some technical issues”, said Chandimal who will captain a team called Colombo at a domestic SLC T20 tournament scheduled to start on August 21.
On Tuesday Chandimal marked his return to the team by scoring an innings-anchoring unbeaten 36 as Sri Lanka chased down a target of 99 in a one-off low scoring T20 match against South Africa.
He was adjudged what was called the Power Bonus Player of the Match.
