MCA Veterans out to regain trophy

The MCA Veterans (Over-40) cricket team under the captaincy of the incumbent MCA President, Roshan Iddamalgoda will go flat out to regain the glittering ‘Tyrone de Silva’ Challenge Trophy which they lost last year to Lanka Cavaliers in their 15th edition of their annual T20 cricket encounter on Sunday at the Bloomfield ground, commencing at 2 p.m.

Lanka Cavaliers led by Nalliah Devarajan are hosting the match.

Last year Lanka Cavaliers led by Basil Jayawardena regained the trophy with a comfortable eight wickets.

Former MCA President, Tyrone de Silva who donated the trophy during his tenure in 2004 will be the Chief Guest at the awards ceremony.

The series up to the last encounter stands at 8-4 in favour of MCA Veterans. In 2006 the match ended in a tie and in 2014 both teams were declared joint winners.
