Burglary at Lankan envoy’s residence in Pakistan

7 October, 2018

The Sri Lankan High commission in Islamabad, Pakistan has begun an internal investigation into certain household goods going missing from the high Commissioner’s residence.

A police complaint has been lodged by the mission officials. However, the Acting High Commissioner N.M.M.Anas speaking to Sunday Observer on the phone said, they were not worried about a security breach following the incident, as reported in some media reports.

“The house was unoccupied for sometime since the High Commissioner designate is yet to report for duty,” he said adding that two Pakistani police officers were on permanent duty at the official residence and it was unlikely that an outsider had broken into the house.

Among the goods that have gone missing are a traditional brass lamps and some taps from the washroom. The investigations are focusing on if it was an inside job.
