14 October, 2018

Further strengthening the brand promise of ensuring security and speed, Sri Lanka’s most innovative and largest taxi hailing service, PickMe introduced QR technology enabled the mobile payment system recently. The launch signals the Company’s decision to facilitate advanced yet user friendly mobile payment experiences for passengers. To use the mobile payment option, the driver of the vehicle needs to select the QR code icon which the passenger can scan using his or her payment app.

“The QR code is one of the most valuable applications given its ability to hold remarkable amounts of data whilst not-compromising on security. This technology is safer than even a credit card and provides unmatched speed,” commented CEO – PickMe Jiffry Zulfer.

Introduced in 1994 as a high-speed component scanning devise, QR codes are gaining traction in the payment arena as they provide increased security and immediate and customisable solutions enabling vendors to create QR codes that generate an electronic payment invoice in real-time. QR codes are used to create and collect invoices via mobile phones or tablets.

“As a technology driven organisation, we consistently seek to provide our passengers and driver partners the most convenient, efficient and user-friendly options. Initially we are enabling QR code payment acceptance with iPay and UPay. By enabling EMV compliant QR code, we have opted for flexibility to accommodate other payment platforms to integrate for PickMe ride payments,” commented COO of PickMe Sri Lanka Isira Perera .

Mobile payment option will serve as yet another catalyst for PickMe’s dedication to use technology to provide optimum services to both passengers and drivers.

Mobile payment methods are real time payment platforms that facilitate cashless and card-less transactions and allow individuals to seamlessly purchase products or services.
