Evergreen hits of yesteryear

‘The Sight First Team’ of Lions Clubs International District 306C2 will hold a musical extravaganza titled ‘Welcome to My World with Janaka’, featuring Janaka Palapathwela reminiscing the songs of Jim Reeves, Elvis Presley, Englebert, Tom Jones and Neil Diamond on October 23 at the Bishop’s College Auditorium, Colombo 3. The proceeds of this concert will be utilized for the ‘Sight First Projects’conducted by the Lions Clubs of District 306C2, which would entail performing 1,000 cataract surgeries and distributing of 1,000 spectacles to improve the vision and eye care of the needy. Janaka will be singing evergreen hits of yesteryear at this concert.

Music will be directed by the multifaceted young Dinesh Subasinghe and his Orchestra. Vocal backup by Colombo University Western Choir ‘Revolution’. Following a 10‐year silence in professional music, Janaka returned to the world of music in 2014 with his come‐back‐show at Galadari Hotel Colombo, ‘It’s Now or Never’. The 31 piece orchestra that played at this concert was directed by Maestro Harsha Markalande.

In 2015 Janaka held a concert titled ‘The Jim Reeves Show’ with a 21 piece orchestra directed by Suresh Maliyadde and the Choro Calibre Choir.
