The Gampaha District Volleyball Association along with the Sports Officer have organized two tournaments the Open and Amateur to be conducted at the Siyane Tharu courts on December 22 and 23.
The tournament is to commence at 9.00 am on both days.
The final of the Amateurs is scheduled to be held at 3.00 pm and the Open final will be played under lights at the same venue at 6.00 p.m.
All teams interested in participating are requested to contact the Sports Officer for details and applications.
Players who have played in tournaments after 2015 senior teams, under-23 National team and those who participated in the uper League, players who competed in the National Sports Festival are not eligible to play in the Amateurs category.
Winner of the Open class is to receive the Sunil Wijeratne Challenge Trophy and a cash award of Rs. 75,000 while the runner-up gets a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 according to organisers.
Meanwhile the winner in the Amateur class will be able to bag the Sunil Wijeratne Challenge Trophy plus a purse of Rs. 50,000 according to the organisers while the runner-up carries away a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 30,000.
All players entering the tournament must produce a Grama Niladari certification to prove that they are residents of the Gampaha district for over two years which should be forwarded along with the entry forms.
