Trinity announce captain and squad for rugby season

Reshan Bandaranayake will lead the Trinity College rugby team this year and his assistant will be Dhirendra Ratwatte.

The announcement was made by the school principal Andrew Fowler-Watt at a school assembly on Monday.

Bandaranayake has been in the senior team since 2017 as a fullback and a speedy runner in attack.

In last year’s warm-up tour to New Zealand, he was awarded the Best Development Player award by the Wellington Rugby Academy (WRA). His father Rajiv Bandaranyake too was a top player who played in the mid 1980s.

Vice captain Ratwatte is also an intelligent player and was also in the leadership group during the tour to New Zealand and was awarded the Most Hardworking Player award by WRA.
