The Southern Motor Sports Club’s (SMSC) Eliyakanda Hill Climb was held last Sunday in a grand manner with the participation of 223 driver and riders where champion driver Ashan Silva and rider Dushan Mudalige stole the limelight as the fastest.
It was the first motor racing event for the year 2019.
The SMSC which was formed 23 years ago has conducted this event since its inception and it has developed year by year while gaining the respect of competitors and all motor racing fans as the Club organizes it so well giving all competitors the satisfaction they expect from motor racing.
This year the most interesting factors witnessed by all were fine performances displayed by young riders Dushan Mudalige, Kesara Godage and the Pathirage brothers Vinula and Nikila.
All of these first timers were able to reach the podium in their respective events they competed in.
The day’s proceedings saw few mishaps taking place with drivers going off the track but no injuries were reported although some vehicles were damaged. None of the riders faced any difficulties during their runs.
