Dharmaraja comes out a strong team under new coach

Dharmaraja College Kandy is one of the oldest schools playing cricket and this time they have the skills to do better.

This season they are blessed with a good coach and a well-balanced side. They not only possess a formidable batting line up but also a penetrative bowling attack and are determined to pose a challenge to all schools in the new season.

The new coach is the vastly experienced Anandian product Thushira de Silva, who has coached Ananda College and now the head coach of the Dharmaraja College ahead of their 2019/20 inter school cricket season.

Dharmaraja College are at serious training, and they will play in the Division I Group B.

They have six players from the team of last year including top batsman Dulaj Bandara who is tipped to lead the side with AG Attanayake as the MIC and the experienced hand of Saliya Samarawickrema as the POG. Nalin Abeyakoon is the president of the Dharmaraja College Cricket Foundation who played from 1994 to 1997.

They start the season with a game against Zahira College on September 18 - 19 at Lake View, followed by a match against Prince of Wales College at Lake View on 27 and 28.

They will also play against St. Peter’s College, Rahula College Matara, Dharmasoka College, S. Thomas’ College, St Anne’s College, D.S. Senanayake College, Moratu Vidyalaya, St Anthony’s College, Mahinda College, Dharmapala College, Nalanda College, Ananda College, Maliyadeva College and Kingswood College.
