Over the past seven months Sri Lanka Tourism has invited over 40 international Travel Bloggers under the ‘Visiting Journalist and Travel Blogger Program’.

It will continue to host travel bloggers, ‘Influencers’, and journalists covering eight source markets (including the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, USA, India, Japan), UAE, Singapore, to promote Sri Lanka as one of the safest, yet most experience-driven destinations to travel to.

Following a travel plan designed by SLTPB, visiting media and travel bloggers took separate directions to explore ‘What is truly So Sri Lanka’ focusing on Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, rich wildlife, golden beaches, authentic food, rich culture, colonial architectural marvels and ancient historical monuments. Travel programs spread around the island, from the coastal South to Jaffna’s unique food.

As part of this destination promotion lesser known areas such as Badulla , Bandarawela in Uva Province, Ambilipitiya, Udawalawa and Killinochchi and Jaffna in the northern province, have been given greater exposure as potential new tourism destinations.

Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Kishu Gomes welcomed the visiting media and travel influencers during a networking event at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo. Director PR Madubhani Perera, Assistant Director PR Chaminda Munasinghe, Director Events, Prasad Daluwatta and the SLTPB PR team were also present.

Hospitality partners including Mount Lavinia Hotel, Jetwing Travels, Jaffna hospitality industry partners including Tilko Hotels and Tours, Malayan Cafe and local communities in Kilinochchi supported the SL Tourism team
