Sri Lanka netball makes new plans with focus on future events

10 May, 2020

The Netball Federation of Sri Lanka has appointed Shiromi Kuruppu and Ganga Uswatte to coordinate with district coaches and supervise their progress in one of the latest developments while its president Victoria Lakshmi said that they were in the process of making arrangements to conduct the AGM once the country gets back to normal.

There will also not be any major netball tournaments taking place this year in the country although preparations will be made to focus and prepare players for upcoming international meets scheduled for next year.

“We will not stop our preparation and will always stay in touch with the future. Without keeping fit and being match-prepared we cannot expect to compete at international events after all this (lockdown) is over.

“In this situation the national players have been advised online and they are keeping up their fitness as well,” said Lakshmi.

She said Sri Lanka’s toughest challenges will come next year at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games among other events that includes the Asian Youth Championship and the Asian Development Tournament.
