No pension for thirty one former MPs

Thirty one former Parliamentarians not elected to the new Parliament will not receive a pension, a senior official of Parliament said.

Twenty three parliamentarians who represented the United National Front (UNF), two parliamentarians of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), four of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), and one Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna MP will not receive pensions.

United National Party (UNP) MP Jayampathy Wickramaratne, who resigned before the dissolution of Parliament, too, will not receive a pension, he said.
