The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal made by the Minister of Highways to construct three flyovers above railway lines across Uttarananda Mawatha and Justice Akbar Mawatha close to the Slave Island Railway Station, Co-cabinet Spokesman Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said.
Considering the heavy traffic congestion that causes during peak hours near the railway lines across Uttarananda Mawatha and Justice Akbar Mawatha, decision had been taken to implement this project and call bids from eligible local contractors for the construction of three flyovers under the project at the total cost of Rs 6 billion.
