The Sri Lanka Chess Federation is still alive and active and is said to have completed 80 per cent of their annual competitions during this calendar year. They are also hopeful in competing in the online Chess Championships in the future too according to Laxsman Wijesuriya the president of the Federation.
“We are proud to have concluded many of our tasks this year and still there are a few more tournaments to conduct. The major one is the youth championship which is scheduled to be held this month,” said Wijesuriya.
“We are satisfied with our efficiency and ready to face many more challenges with better displays next year. We have also made a donation to the Covid Fund that was started by President Rajapaksa.
“We are a stronger Federation now with the number of membership increasing. The biggest event is awaiting. This is when the youth will participate and it will be the final one this year,” added Wijesuriya.
