Three uncapped schoolgirls in Sri Lanka squad for World Cup qualifiers

Three uncapped players have been included in Sri Lanka’s 17 member squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe in November.

The three newcomers are 16 year old Vishmi Gunaratne (Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha and Seenigama Ladies CC), 19 year old Sachini Nisansala (Devapathiraja College Rathgama and Seenigama Ladies CC) and 19 year old Imesha Dulani (Devapathiraja College Rathgama and Seenigama Ladies CC).

Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, USA, Netherlands and hosts Zimbabwe will feature in the 10-team World Cup qualifiers of which three will book places for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 in New Zealand.

Devapathiraja College Rathgama have won the inter school championship six times in a row.

Chamari Atapattu (Captain), Harshitha Madavi (Vice Captain), Prasadini Weerakkody, Inoka Ranaweera, Nilakshi de Silva, Hashini Perera, Sugandika Kumari, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Ama Kanchana, Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, Anushka Sanjeewani, Kavisha Dilhari, Tharika Sewwandi, Imesha Dulani, Vishmi Gunaratne and Sachini Nisansala
