Afrochella partners with YouTube for music programming

Afrochella returns this December and in addition to facilitating spectacular live performances from some of our favorite artists – including the likes of Wizkid and Stonebwoy – the Ghana-based music festival will also roll out a series of activations aligned with its mission of elevating and highlighting “the thrilling and thriving millennial talent in Africa.”

Amongst the series of events designed to celebrate the assortment rich culture in Africa will be a one-day event hosted by the Culture Management Group in partnership with YouTube Music.

“We’re so proud to join #YouTubeBlack to bring musical education resources to Ghana. With the help of this program, we can continue to inspire and influence the next generation of young African artists,” says Abdul Karim Abdullah, CEO & Co-Founder of Afrochella shares in a press statement. “Afrochella has always been a platform that elevates up and coming creatives and through this collaboration, we’ll be able to continue this impactful work in new and meaningful ways.”

Held at the Afrochella Music Museum on December 27, the in-person Future Insiders event will provide young professionals aspiring towards careers in music with an opportunity to learn hands-on skills from highly accomplished musicians and industry experts.

The jam-packed activation is slated to include two production masterclasses on the art of beat-making led by Ghanaian producers Juls and GuiltyBeatz.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers during a three-part panel series, which includes Future Voices of Africa; A Queen Leads, based around innovative women in the music industry; and The Diaspora Effect, focused on the growth of Africa music.

“Afrochella has long been a beacon of light for young talent in Africa and we are thrilled to partner with them to further strengthen our commitment to empowering the next wave of Black voices.” The Future Insiders program falls beneath the umbrella of the Music Community pillar of YouTube’s Black Voices Fund, which aims to facilitate opportunities for exposure and education for youth throughout the world.

So far, Future Insiders has partnered with community organizations headquartered in New York, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Rio de Janeiro, Houston, Atlanta, London, Lagos, and most recently, Accra.
