President’s Cup volleyball final today

Dialog President’s Cup Volleyball Championship 2020 organised by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation will come to an end with the men’s and women’s finals taking place today at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Courts.

The teams that qualified to play in the women’s final are Vijaya Sports Club, Koswadiya and Hirdardamani Sports Club while the men’s battle will be between United Sports Club, Nattandiya and Rantharu Sports Club, Debegama.

The Championship saw 400 teams in action during the preliminary stage played at Provincial level.

The qualifying round matches were staged at the Sri Lanka Volleyball Complex in Dadella, Galle. The previous year saw a record number of participants, a little over 800 teams, but this number decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic according to a senior Official of the SLVF.

The women’s match is scheduled to commence at 1.00 pm while the men’s final will start off at 3.00 pm with Secretary to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Anuradha Wijekoon as the chief guest while Minister of Ports and Shipping, Rohitha Abeygunewardena will also grace the occasion as chief guest and present the Awards. Senior Officials of Dialog Axiata too will grace the occasion as guests of honour.

The Sri Lanka Volleball Federation has made arrangements to telecast the matches live on Channel Eye.
