Those who need two doses of the Pfizer vaccine for special reasons could now obtain the two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath said. He told a press briefing at the Health Promotion Bureau in Colombo on Friday that if a country, a person is visiting needs two Pfizer doses or if there are any other special reasons, two doses of the Pfizer vaccine can be obtained after providing evidence to prove that specific need.
He said that the booster Pfizer dose will be given at institution level for employees over 18 on request and staff of factories will be given the booster dose, if needed even if they are below 20.
The Health Ministry and the private sector have facilities to store the Pfizer vaccine under the given temperature and there is no efficacy lost due to temperature fluctuations and there is no waste of the vaccine.
After the vaccine is released from storage it will not be returned to the store, he said.
