AIS out-smart rivals at junior rowing Nationals

Asian International School (AIS) dominated the girls under-14 category while they boys under-16 category was also dominated by AIS at the Junior Rowing National championships that was held at the Diyawanna Oya yesterday.

The AIS under-14 girls won the B sculls, doubles sculls and the boys and girls Fours events during the afternoon.

Nethuki Senanayake won the girls under-14 sculls event with Tia Jabbir finishing second and Shana Abbas third.

Gateway International School under-16 girls won the double sculls event. The winners were Anushri Udamulle and Onali Chandrasekera with a wide margin of nearly ten metres.

Bishop’s College won the girls under-16 fours event. The team comprised Bevanka Aluwihara, Jessica Peiris, Chiara Linden and Oshenka Munasinghe. Ladies College finished second and Musaeus College finished third.

AIS won the boys’ under-18 fours event with Taha Murtaza, Ibrahim, Menura Arapaksha and Cheyanka in the team. DS Senanayake College finished second and Ananda College ended third. (TBR)
