Russian envoy ends tenure in Sri Lanka

The Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yuri Materiy will leave Sri Lanka following the conclusion of his tenure. A group of officials met the Ambassador at the Russian Embassy in Colombo on September 6, 2022 to felicitate and thank the ambassador on behalf of the citizens of Sri Lanka for the great service rendered during his tenancy.

Alexi Budanov, Deputy Ambassador of the Russian Embassy, President of the Parliamentary Sri Lanka- Russia Friendship Association and Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia, Anastasia Khokhlova, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, Director of the Russian House in Colombo and Buddhapriya Ramanayake, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian House in Colombo were present on the occasion.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Yuri Materiy for his service as the Russian Ambassador over the past five years to enhance diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Russia and strengthen friendship between the two countries.

Similarly, we extend our earnest wishes for his future endeavors” he said.
