Bambalapitiya Police say a jeep driven by an 18-year-old student of a private university collided with two cars and an electric pole at Marine drive in Bambalapitiya.
Unofficial information has been received that the said university student is the son of former MP.
No one was injured in the accident and the student who was driving the jeep has been admitted to a private hospital due to shock.
At the time of the accident, four people were traveling in the jeep and no one was in the two parked cars, police said.
The accident caused serious damage to the three vehicles and a electric pole.
A CCTV camera installed nearby shows the Land Cruiser jeep driven by the university student going over a few feet after colliding with the vehicles.
A case will be filed against the university student under the charge of causing damage to government property by failing to avoid an accident at high speed.
