Kandy hockey to be revived

Hockey is to be brought back to its former heydays in Kandy by the Kandy District Hockey Association headed by R. Maheswaran and his Committee.

What they lack badly is a proper ground to play their tournaments.

Hockey was first played in Kandy and has a proud record of producing some of the top players and captains among men and women at district and national level.

The present KDHA Committee is headed by Maheswaran and his Secretary is M. Ashroff and with the rest of the Committee members have planned to organise men’s and women’s Sevens and eleven a side tournaments in the near future.

Ashan Ratwatte chief guest

Ashan Ratwatte, who led the Trinity College rugby side in 1983, was the only captain to receive the Bradby Shield from the donor of the shield the late EL Bradby.

This time Ashan Ratwatte is tipped to be the chief guest at the Bradby game to be played in Kandy.
