The much awaited Battle of the Hindus cricket encounter between Hindu College, Colombo and Jaffna Hindu College is set to resume with enthusiasm on June 30 and July 1 at the P Sara Oval.

The encounter commenced in 1981 and was temporarily halted after 1982. However it was revived in 2009 and has since become a prominent fixture in the schools cricket calendar.

This encounter marks an exhilarating contest with many cricketers displaying their talent and skills that could match up to cricketers from other schools in Colombo.

Played over two days the encounter promises to showcase the cricketing prowess and competitiveness of some of the budding schoolboy exponents according to the organizers.

In a significant turn of events a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the principals of the two schools on June 18 at the board room of Tamil Union C&AC in Colombo. The MOU according to the two institutions is committed to foster camaraderie and promote healthy competition among their students and the captains of both schools unveiled the highly sought after Trophy ahead of the match in Colombo this week.

The title sponsor of this match is Janashakthi Group and its support not only demonstrates their commitment to nurturing sportsmanship but also their dedication of fostering a sense of unity through sports, the two schools contend.

Cricket enthusiasts, supporters and well wishers from the two institutions say they are eagerly awaiting the upcoming encounter to show their support and cheer their cricketing stars at the encounter.
