Tourism sector earns US$ 131 Mn in May

Sri Lanka has earned US$ 131 million in May this year from the tourism sector showing an upward trend in earnings from the industry. According to a latest report issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the country’s income from tourism in the month of May 2022 was US$ 44 million and in comparison it has shown a growth of 202 percent in May this year. Approximately 30,207 foreign tourists visited Sri Lanka in May 2022 showing a growth of 175.8 percent while 83,309 tourists had come to Sri Lanka in May 2023.

The highest number of foreign tourists have come from Russia, India, United Kingdom, Germany and France.
