St. Peter’s College continued their impressive run in the ongoing inter school Dialog League rugby tournament as they secured yet another resounding victory, defeating Science College by a scoreline of 29-0 at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

The Peterites displayed their formidable form on home turf, racking up an impressive tally of five tries and two conversions, while keeping their opponents from Science College scoreless throughout the match. The home team asserted their dominance from the outset, finishing the first half with a commanding 17-0 lead.

The encounter kicked off with a burst of energy as Peterite Dulaj Navod executed a brilliant run along the right flank, touching down near the corner within the very first minute of play. Kushan Tharindu’s accurate conversion swiftly added to their lead.

Capitalizing on their momentum, the Peterites struck again within the 10th minute, securing their second try to extend their lead to 12-0. Then Vindya de Mel, donning the number 10 jersey, displayed great determination and skill as he barged through the defense, touching down near the posts to enhance the lead 17-0.

However, in an unfortunate turn of events, St. Peter’s College faced a setback when Kushan Tharindu was penalized and had to leave the field during the initial stages of the second half. The home team was forced to play the remaining 30 minutes with 14 players, challenging their resilience.

Nonetheless, the Peterites proved their mettle and demonstrated their attacking prowess. In the 46th minute, they were rewarded with a bonus point when Dineth Ranasinghe skillfully ran towards the right post to score their fourth try, capitalizing on an opening in the opponent’s ruck. Sudesh Jayawickrama made no mistake with the conversion, widening the gap to 24-0.

As the match approached its conclusion, replacement wing three-quarter Sulaiman sealed the victory with a final try.
