Sri Lanka tennis girls in Billy Jean Cup

Sri Lanka’s women’s tennis players will contest the Billie Jean King Cup which is rated as a highly acclaimed event at the National Tennis Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia starting on Monday.

Billy Jean King is an American tennis legend who won 39 Grand Slam titles that incuded 12 Singles titles and the championship is an Asia-Oceania Zone Group II tournament.

Sri Lanka will be represented by Janali Manamperi, Vishmi Serasinghe, Dinethya Dharmarathne, Saajida Razick and Inuki Jayaweera.

Chinese Taipei, Guam, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pacific Oceania (region), Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Turkmenistan are in the fray.

The two finalists will be promoted to Zonal Group One while the last two countries will be relegated to Group III at the end of the championship.
