Western Province Northern District Crimes Division officers arrested a man with 1.6 kilograms of the 'Ice' narcotic worth more than Rs.10 Mn on Tuesday evening (15).
Police said that the suspect was arrested after survellance into a drug distribution racket led by a powerful drug trafficker living in Dubai. He was nabbed with the drug ICE he was transporting on a motorcycle at Jambugaswatte Road in Wanawasala. The arrested suspect 23, is a resident of Dippitigoda in Kelaniya. A Police officer said that his job and is distributing drugs as a source of income.
The officer said that this man was distributing drugs on instructions given by the drug dealer via telephone calls from Dubai and that it has been possible to discover a lot of information about this drugs network.
The officer stated further that since information has been revealed about other people involved in this racket, investigations are underway to bring them to justice.
The Western Province Northern District Crimes Division OIC Chief Inspector Jayasekera, Sub-Inspector Tissera, Constables Munasinghe (81534), Abeykoon (81534), Lakshan (20732), Subasinghe (21221), Ratnayake(17058), Constable Drivers Subasinghe (94806) and Azan (105545) were involved in the raid.
