The Colours Awarding Ceremony of Royal College Colombo was held on a grand scale on August 11 at the Navaragahala in the presence of distinguished and outstanding old Royalists and National sportsmen while Hiran Muttaiah (1982) and Krishan George (1984) graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.
The event was also graced by the new principal of Royal Thilak Watthuhewa and assistant principal and Senior Games Master MAM Riyaz and the event was organized by the Prefects Council led by the Head Prefect Yuganan Baskaran with the guidance of the staff.
The award of Senior Cadet Best Commander’s prize was bestowed after a long period with a New Trophy named “Lt Col Manik Jayakumar and Brothers” donated by LT Col Manik Jayakumar the first Sergeant to win the coveted Hermanloos Trophy in 1963 for Royal College.
The first winner of this Trophy for the year 2022 was Sergeant SN Perera. The trophy was presented to him by Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe who won the identical award in 1971 during his distinguish career at Royal College.
