Colombo University’s Accounting Day concludes

The ‘Opulentia ’23 – Accounting Day’ organised for the first time by the Students Association of Department of Accounting, University of the Colombo was held at the New Arts Theatre, University of Colombo recently.

Over 250 undergraduates from the University of Colombo, alongside invitees hailing from other universities were present.

A panel discussion was held on the theme, “The Future of Accounting – Thriving in the Digital Age,” comprising Suresh Gooneratne, Dr. Nayana Digamma, Dulitha Perera, and Luxaman Perera. It was moderated by Prof. Sampath Kehelwalatenna.

The ‘Opulentia ’23 – Accounting Day’ brought together academia, industry leaders, and students to explore the intersection of accounting and the digital age, fostering a spirit of innovation, collaboration, knowledge-sharing and setting a precedent for future engagements that bridge the gap between theory and practice in the evolving landscape of accounting.

The guest of honour was Vice Chancellor, University of Colombo Senior Professor (Chair) H. D. Karunaratne. Dean of the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, Prof. M. P. P. Dharmadasa and BOI Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody were also present. The guests were welcomed by Head of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, Dr. Nuradhi K. Jayasiri.
