M.H.K.M. Hameez heads Sri Lanka-Malaysia Business Council

The 29th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Malaysia-Business Council (SLMBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was held at the Hilton Residence, Colombo recently.

High Commissioner of Malaysia in Sri Lanka, Badli Hisham Adam was the chief guest.

The SLMBC elected a new Committee for the year 2023/2024, with M.H.K.M. Hameez (Spillburg Holdings) elected as President.

Hameez said Malaysia is one of the top destinations for travel, holiday, business and even a second home. Thousands of students from Sri Lanka are studying in Kuala Lumpur and other parts of Malaysia.  At times, the Business Council was notified by some of these travellers of problems in obtaining visas. High Commission officials were helpful at all such instances whenever SLMBC intervened for visas issues. He said that the Colombo Port City is another flagship project and there are many opportunities for Malaysian developers.

The Council elected Sajith Amarasekera (Acom Aviation) and  Marshad Barry (Amana Bank) as Vice Presidents and Khalid M. Farook (Ilham Inspiration Sri Lanka) will serve as the Immediate Past President. Committee: Wathsala Wijesinghe (International Scholar Educational Services),  Kushan Attapatu (Dialog Axista),  Gayan Maddumarachchi (MAC Holdings), G.A.D.  Anthony Tissa Ganlath (Timber and Transport Services)  Dhashma Karunaratne (Aitken Spence Shipping) and  Hsin Haw Li (Public Bank Berhad)
