The Jetwing Group has ventured into a new avenue of business, real estate development, going beyond offering hospitality facilities to guests.

“We have ventured into real estate development which is also complementary tourism. The company will build a condominium comprising 122 apartments, 34 one bedroom and others 2 to 3 bedrooms along with eight penthouses in the beach area in Thalahena named WaterScape. Our thinking behind this project is to link with Jetwing Lagoon, a 100 percent a wellness resort with ayurveda and traditional methods. These apartments could be considered as a retirement home and Jetwing will provide all the services,” Chairman Jetwing Group Hiran Cooray said. The apartments will be built in an excellent place where the sea and the lagoon could be seen. The apartments are an escape from the hustle and bustle of crowded city life. The property will have spa, pool and other amenities, he said.

This is the first time that a leisure company is moving in a different direction giving a new product to its clients as done in Thailand and Bali. The architect who designed Colombo Seven Jetwing will design this project as well along with EcoID.“The project will offer resort living and we do have experience to offer this type of service. This is the competitive edge we have over other developers. The differentiation factor is the forty five years of experience in the hospitality industry where the Jetwing is capable of catering to the customer needs and comforts.

The trust the company has build over the years have also an essential factor in this regard,” he said. The WaterScape is an investment of Negombo Hotels Ltd and the development company is Thalahena Beach House Pvt Ltd., a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Negombo Hotels Ltd. (Jetwing Beach Hotel).

“With the successful launch of this apartment complex we will be moving into other areas as well.

We started Jetwing Hotels in 1973 in Negombo and have ventured on a different direction in the same area as well. Negombo has been a turning point in our journey,” he said.
