The Ministry of Foreign Affairs celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and France by issuing special commemorative stamps.

Two Rs. 50 stamps were issued to mark the occasion and a first-day cover featuring iconic UNESCO World Heritage sites from both nations – Sigiriya from Sri Lanka and Mont Saint-Michel from France. The stamps which bear out the rich history and enduring friendship between the two countries were launched at a ceremony on Friday. The French edition of the stamp was also simultaneously introduced with plans for its launch in France in the near future. Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry PC, French Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Jean-Francois Pactet, State Minister of Mass Media, Shantha Bandara, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tharaka Balasuriya, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aruni Wijewardene, Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media, Anusha Palpita and Postmaster General Ruwan Satkumara were also present.
