Hayleys Plantations companies won awards at the TAGS Awards 2023 recently.

Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (KVPL) and Talawakelle Tea Estates PLC (TTE) shared the Gold Award for Outstanding Excellence in Corporate Reporting under the Plantations category, with Horana Plantations PLC (HPL) winning the Silver. Their outstanding performance this year builds on more than a decade of success at the TAGS Awards, formerly CA Annual Report Awards for KVPL and TTE, and HPL after the latter’s acquisition by Hayleys.

The three companies received top honours in the prestigious 2023 South Asia Federation of Accountants (SAFA) annual report awards, with HPL winning Gold, and KVPL and TTE PLC winning Silver and Bronze in the Agriculture category. Their performance at this year’s awards underscores a remarkably dominant track record at the SAFA awards, where Hayleys Plantations RPCs have consistently secured Gold and Silver awards over the past decade. Hayleys Plantations Managing Director, Dr. Roshan Rajadurai said, “In today’s volatile economic landscape, a robust corporate governance framework is an essential prerequisite for success. A commitment to ethical business management is at the core of the Hayleys ethos and cascades to individual governance policies of each RPCs. That is how we ensure that our vision and values translate into ensuring transparency, accountability, governance and sustainability on-ground.

“We›ve consistently led the sustainability drive within our business philosophy, shaping our strategic vision and commitments to achieve the 2030 SDG targets. Our focus on ESG is integral to this journey. As an SBTi committed company, we›ve set ambitious near-term and future targets, with a clear roadmap to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, through embracing a climate-smart regenerative agriculture model and employing data-driven decision-making.

“I commend our teams for their exemplary commitment to authentic ESG practices and the corporate reporting standards established within their respective companies. Their victory serves as an inspiration to the Hayleys Group, and the entire corporate sector,” he said.

All three Hayleys Plantations companies follow the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and are either already committed to or working towards the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), with TTE’s targets having been already confirmed.
