The thirty-fourth art exhibition by artist Vincent Suludagoda will be held at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery from March 14- 18. Sri Lankan Artist Suludagoda has been living in Seychelles for several decades.
Suludagoda, after gaining his qualification in the field of art in Sri Lanka, studied further in Tokyo, Japan and in the Philippines. He grew up among veterans of the subject and held his first exhibition in the same art gallery where the Minister of Youth then, President now Ranil Wickremasinghe, the chief guest opened the exhibition.
Almost two decades ago he moved to Seychelles to begin his career as an art teacher, and soon became a self-employed businessman in a field connected to art and painting. He dedicated his life to the brush work and held painting exhibitions in a number of countries including Bangladesh, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Korea, the Philippines and Japan. These travels and experiences helped him to expand his world as an artist and gain maturity.
He established his own style in painting.
Suludagoda said, “It is important for people to have calm minds. This calmness is feely available in nature we live. Man has not trained his mind to observe it and become peaceful.
The sea, the wind, the trees, the earth, the moon and the breeze bring us peace. Gazing at them and feeling them make us calm. All my paintings help you to become calm. That is the reason why I titled it “Serenity in meditation”.
