Government Hospitals to launch e-channelling

13 November, 2016

The government in a move to revitalize the health sector is holding discussions to introduce a private channeling service in government hospitals. This proposal brought by the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne is to provide a channelling service at a lesser cost and more affordable.

Speaking to the Sunday Observer Director General of Health Services, Dr. Palitha Mahipala said that still the ground work is being laid as more discussions needs to to be done regarding logistics, payment schemes and as to the practicalities of this project.

“This is something that has been in the pipeline for some time as we gave priority to drug price control and tobacco related matters to be resolved first. We are in the midst of still laying the foundation and drawing up blueprints,” he explained.

One of the most sensible suggestions that should have been established much earlier, and this would save time from road congestion , and where the doctors would be able to devote to the patients , and the government could also cover expenses. Care should be taken to prevent any acts of sabotage as big money could be in play against it.
