And just 11 months later, after a contentious split with billionaire fiancé James Packer, Mariah Carey is trying her best to stay strong as she addressed the breakup on The Ellen Show last week.
‘That’s a whole friggin’ thing’ the 46-year-old star admitted to the talk show host during a sit down chat. Asked how she’s feeling ‘mentally’ and whether she’s ‘happy,’ Mariah responded, ‘I think I’m doing well.’
She added: ‘No. I’m actually. Everything happens for a reason, things are the way they are.’
Ellen then probed the star about Packer’s reluctance to star in Mariah’s upcoming E! docu-series Mariah’s World asking, ‘He didn’t want to be in the docu-series at all. And yet he’s in it. You see him.’
‘Allegedly’ the songstress replied coyly, adding, ‘It’s kind of difficult to talk about it at the moment. Mariah then swiftly changed the subject saying, ‘So I’m just going to compliment you on these decorations once again because they are fabulous and I’m here…’
The We Belong Together hitmaker put on a dazzling display in a low-cut waistcoat style top and trousers.
Ellen, 58, joked about the very ‘festive’ look and expensive jewels adorning Mariah’s neck. ‘Wow, look at the set of- diamonds you got there,’ she said.
Mariah’s breakup from the Australian businessman was made public last month.
The couple had reportedly split a couple of weeks after a disagreement on a trip to Mykonos in Greece.
They began dating in June 2015 and James proposed in January with a 35-carat ring.
