The Batticaloa District Secretariat marked Sri Lanka’s 69th Independence Day yesterday. The parade of the tri-forces, police and a procession of schoolchildren and the public went from Gandhi Park up to Weber stadium where Deputy Minister M.S.M. Ameer Ali hoisted the National Flag, Batticaloa Government Agent P.S.M. Charles and other officials were present.
