Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series which is written by J.K. Rowling. It is about an orphaned boy who was told that his parents had died in a car crash and was left to live with his aunt, uncle and their son. Then one day mysteriously he starts getting letters from an unknown person informing him about the wizarding world and about his parents.

Harry joins Hogwarts school of Wizardry with the help of Hagrid the giant. There he meets Hermione and Ron and they become very close friends. The book is about how Harry and his two friends find out the truth and mystery behind the philosopher’s stone and its connection with Lord Voldemort who killed Harry’s parents.

The reason I chose this as my favourite book would be because this has many twists and turns and shows us the true meaning of friendship, courage filled with sadness, happiness and excitement.
