‘Indo-Lanka Hindi Sammelan’

The Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo, is organizing a one day conference, ‘Indo-Lanka Hindi Sammelan’ in collaboration with the Hindi Department of the University of Kelaniya, on September 13, from 11 am to 5 pm at its K-3 Auditorium.

Hindi, written in the Devnagari script was approved as an official language by the Constituent Assembly on September 14 in 1949.

To commemorate the occasion Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14 every year.

Hindi is one of the most common foreign languages in Sri Lanka and almost 80 institutions in Sri Lanka are engaged in the teaching of Hindi.

The University of Kelaniya, Hindi Department is one of the leading institutions among them.
