I miss my Grandpa

24 September, 2017

It was a day my heart sank into the depths of joy and started to rise in the gardens of sorrow.

It was May 31, 2017 my grandpa, the star of knowledge passed away. It was a heart breaking moment. When my mother announced “Seeya’s gone”, my eyes started to fill with tears and couldn’t hold, it came pouring. I could not bare to look at my grandpa’s body. If I did so I would burst into tears.

He was a son, brother, husband, father, captain in the army, principal of Mahinda College, Galle, principal at a teaching school and a grandfather. He was a person who took the serving spoon first but served the others before he died. He was a person who was down to earth. I will never lose the gratitude I have for him because he was a part of making my uncle, aunt and my mother, respected and good citizens of Sri Lanka.

I love him from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget my grandpa.
